Textile Design Coordinator

For nearly 40 years, RPC's client has provided quality textiles and Technology Leathers™for home, office, hospitality and contract designers and their clients. The company is one of the textile industry’s most widely recognized brands of interior products, with a focus on supplying superior products and excellent customer service. 

Client is currently seeking to complement their internal creative design team by adding a product designer with a strong first-hand knowledge of woven textiles and coated fabrics.

POSITION:

The primary role is facilitating and expediting the development of new products, all the way from design, technical mill manufacturing, brand aesthetics, to actual product launches. Position also includes a “creative support interface”with all sales divisions, the customer success teams, the sampling, marketing, and digital department, as well as working in tandem with the President on product design direction.

SKILLS:
  • Understand all aspects of developing woven textiles, from construction to finishing
  • Strong ability to work directly with mills and manufacturers
  • Ongoing creative interaction with both mill and supplier sales reps
  • Developing processes for ‘sourcing’alternative products
  • Talent to develop and execute color work
  • Skills to conduct appropriate industry research in support of end product
  • Adeptness in tracking new products with vendors and mills at all stages of initial development
  • Aptitude to both get and stay organized with multiple collections at once, from conception to launch
  • Offer creative input on design and marketing projects, including preparation for and support of photography shoots
  • Organize and archive digital artwork/images/patterns with Digital Team
  • Capacity to thrive in a rapidly changing environment
  • Proactive project management

ABILITIES:
  • Organized –you excel with multiple projects. Ability to stay on top of details through excellent time management.
  • Motivated –you show interest by asking great questions and asking for more responsibility in areas and projects you’re passionate about.
  • Communications –you must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as a professional approach to delivering high quality presentations.
  • Focus - ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure, multi-task, follow directions, stay organized, willingly execute revisions with a high level of accuracy.
  • Think - a strong knack at learning new skills and knowledge.
  • Approach - a positive attitude.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Degree in Textile Design is preferred
  • Strong understanding of industry requirements and technical standards for products
  • 3-5 years’hands-on experience within textile construction and design
  • Experience with Photoshop and Illustrator encouraged, but not a must
