Shop Manager for Diesel Repair Shop

Located in Garland, TX 75041

M-F Day Shift

$90-110k/yr + bonus

We are looking for a mature, creative, business development minded leader with a strong work ethic. The Shop Manager will lead the shop to a position of continuous growth and success.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and improve the shop performance as measured by KPIs. The Shop Manager uses the KPIs of the other positions to manage the shop. The KPIs the Shop Manager monitors are Gross Sales, Gross Profit, Average RO, Number of Repair Orders, Billed Hours per Tech, and Billed Hours total.
  • Responsible for staff oversight to encourage peak performance and ensure employees are hitting their performance goals.
  • Ensures the shop is operating smoothly at all times. Ultimate responsibility for the shops overall appearance and cleanliness.
  • Responsible for OSHA compliance.
  • Responsible for scheduling Mechanics, Technicians and staff to meet projected sales goals.
  • Interface with customers as needed to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Conduct regular spot checks of vehicle inspections, troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Manages processes for sales, invoicing, payments, returns, adjustments, and warranties.
  • Develop campaigns targeted at past and prospective customers to directly or indirectly provide new sales opportunities.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction reports and take proactive action to address opportunities for improvement to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction with the company, our products, and services.
  • Responsible for setting shop budget with the goal of producing a minimum average of 62% gross profit.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum of ten years of experience as a GM in an auto or truck repair shop.
  • Must possess a regular driver’s license, CDL a plus.
  • Understands volume and sales metrics to meet or exceed sales or volume quotas.
  • Proficiency with Fullbay (a plus) shop management software, end-of-day closeout procedures and general PC skills including email, documentation, and internet navigation as it relates to the duties and responsibilities.
  • Automotive or heavy truck customer service experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the trucking industry and types of commercial trucks a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, translate trucking jargons into layman’s terms for customers.
  • Professional appearance and great attitude.
  • Professional and effective communication with customers, suppliers, team members and management.
  • Strong personal conviction of producing quality work, being an integrated team player, and commitment to company values.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting that requires a calm demeanor and steady work ethic.
