Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
- Quantify project components assigned
- Visit project to understand site conditions/restrictions
- Work with the project team to build the estimate, then price assigned items in HCSS
- Review plans and specifications
- Provide accurate take-off
- Work with project team on a preliminary project schedule based on the information provided in the plans and specifications utilizing Primavera P6
- Work with the project team to close the estimate
- Contact subcontractors, suppliers and specialty services for quotes
- Coordinating with subcontractors about prospective work
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. Into unit and man-hour figures
- Develop thorough, timely and accurate estimates, proposals and bid documents.
- Lead the team to close the estimate.
- Works closely with the Project Managers and Field Supervisors once a bid has been won.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Builds and maintains relationships with key departments and Company affiliates to ensure cooperation and teamwork.
- Attends all scheduled meetings, missing no more than 10% annually.
- Follows all OSHA and other safety guidelines.
- Manages any stress on the job, including but not limited to meeting deadlines.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- HCSS and Primavera P6 experience is strongly preferred
- Additional working knowledge preferred but not required: Bluebeam, Auto Cad
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as an Estimator working in all aspects of large heavy/highway construction projects (Structures, Bridges, Underground, Earthwork and Concrete Paving)
- Participate in project pre-construction meetings and assist in project buyout of subcontractors and
- Previous field operations experience a plus
- Experience with collaborating with owner, contractors and other project team members, to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility
- Skilled in time management.
- Skilled in multi-tasking
- Ability to learn and perform primary functions of positions within department
- Demonstrates solid communication, customer service skills, and verbal/written skills with all levels of company personnel and outside vendors/suppliers
- Ability to manage to deadlines
- Ability to conduct presentations to executives.
- Demonstrates high level of organization and attention to detail
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, sitting, squatting, and occasionally lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 15 pounds
- Must be available for work 8am 5pm Monday through Friday, with some varied hours as projects require
