Job Description


Established, award-winning practice currently has an open need for a Surgical Assistant II / Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) in Oral Surgery to join our oral surgery center team in Washington, DC 20036, with Benefits starting immediately!

Payrange: $23.52/hr - $27.78/hr (based on experience)

Schedule: Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri @ 7: 30a - 4p (32 hours/week)
  • >Tuesdays are Admin days, so may not require Surgical Assistant to be present 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Surgical / Dental Assistant License to work in Washington DC
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program
  • 1+ years experience as a dental assistant in a dental or surgical assistant in an oral surgery setting
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Dental X-ray (Pano, PA, CBCT)
  • Great organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to provide excellent patient care, even under stressful circumstances.
  • Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude.

Surgical Roles:
  • Proper instrument cleaning in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols. Autoclave operation and function.
  • Surgical tray set-up. Identification of instruments used in the clinic.
  • Room set up/break down for IV anesthesia and surgery.
  • Seat patient and perform pre-op set-up. Review charts.
  • Nitrous oxide set-up.
  • Proper positioning of restraints.
  • Support airway for sedated patients. Monitor patients post anesthesia.
  • Understand emergency procedures and operation of emergency equipment.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and quarterly preventative maintenance on instruments, equipment, and headpieces.
  • Provide excellent patient care.
