Job Description

Clinical Dermatology Medical Assistant (Float) - Mohs Surgery

Award-winning Dermatology practice currently has an opening for a Medical Assistant with at least 1 year of Mohs surgery experience in Clinical Dermatology to provide excisions, suture removal, wound care, & assist with dermatology procedures full-time. Joining team of 3 MA's who support 2 Providers. Good transportation needed, round-trip mileage paid for travel to 3 sites each week (Corsicana, Dallas, Plano)
- Mileage Reimbursement @ 2025 IRS Rate: $0.70/mi

Pay Range: $22.09 to $25.00/per hour | Granted based on MA experience 
>Additional Pay: Mileage Reimbursement, $0.70/mi round-trip | 

Start: 1 to 2 weeks

SCHEDULE / SITES
  • MONDAY: Corsicana, TX 75110 site @ 7a to 4p
  • TUESDAY: Dallas, TX 75230 site @ 6: 30a to 4p
  • WEDNESDAY: (varies between sites) @ 6: 30a to 4p
  • THURSDAY: Plano, TX 75024 - Home site @ 6: 30a to 4p
  • FRIDAY: Varies between sites depending on pt needs;will be off if no clinic scheduled

JOB DUTIES
  • Mohs surgery assistance
  • Excisions, suture removals, wound care, procedure assistance, skintag, providing Pre and Post-Op instructions
  • Consults, follow-ups, scheduling via EMR EMA ("Electronic Medical Assistant")
  • Triage calls, Prior Auths, medication refills
  • Record patients' medical history, medications, allergies, vitals, test results in medical records
  • Prepare procedure or operative rooms, sterilization of instruments, medication administration 
  • Ensure proper consent forms are obtained prior to treatment
  • Assistance with minor skin procedures i.E. Applying dressings, wound care, suture removal, changing bandages
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, wound care, and physicians' instructions to patients
  • Collect skin samples & specimens for lab testing
  • Assist Dermatologist during exams and procedures, i.E. Hand instruments, materials over, provide injections

Experience Requirements
  • At LEAST 1 year of Mohs surgery experience as a Medical Assistant 
  • Prior Clinical Dermatology practice experience
  • Adept dermatology procedure assistance, excisions, skintag removal, suture removal, wound care, sterile technique, & medication administration 
  • Detail-oriented, independent, reliable
  • Understanding of medical-surgical protocols
  • Strong patient service skills, ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of EMR system "EMA" to manage patient records
  • Ability respond to patient needs promptly
  • Medical Assistance degree 
  • CMA Certification preferred (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant)
