Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology, chemical, physical, or biological science
  • 1 year training and experience in high-complexity testing.
  • 4- 6 years minimum of high-complexity laboratory experience.
  • 4 years minimum of supervisor experience
  • General Supervisor under CLIA and accreditation agencies to perform high complexity testing.
CORE laboratory skills required include:
  • Supervising personnel in performing laboratory tests with different body fluid types for CORE testing.
  • Knowledge and Skill specifically on:
    • sample collection and shipping
    • sample accessioning, instrument and equipment calibration and maintenance
    • quality control procedures
    • data analysis, and certifying results
    • Experience with safety protocols
    • High attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills
    • The ability to operate and troubleshoot technical issues with CORE test systems to include clinical chemistry, hematology, coagulation and urinalysis, leadership and organizational skills, managing staff and supplies, generating schedules, executing Quality Control and Quality Assurance Programs, managing standards and compliance, and workflow management skills.

Certification: ML(ASCP) or equivalent

Responsibilities Include but not limited to:
  • Providing day-to-day supervision of high complexity test performance by testing personnel.
  • Understanding of scientific principles associated with the CORE testing performed (Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis).
  • Training and competency of laboratory personnel
  • Manage all tasks associated with sample integrity, sample preparation, sample testing, instrument performance, data review, results certification, and results reporting, Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), and turn around times and key metrics associated with the preanalytical, analytical and analytical phases of laboratory testing.
  • Monitoring test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
  • Ensure that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
  • Perform method verification and validations to assess accuracy, precision, linearity, and other required metrics;ensure laboratory personnel perform tests adhering to approved procedures.
  • Submit proficiency test evaluations to accrediting agencies by established deadlines;review evaluations, complete investigations within designated timeframes, and approve corrective action plans as necessary
  • Ensure analytical test systems maintain acceptable performance levels by implementing corrective and remedial actions when systems fail;report patient test results only when systems function properly, and ensure reports include all required elements.
  • Run and submit PT surveys and linearity assessments
  • Develop, implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for department.
  • Develop and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly department responsibilities and goals.
  • Manage weekly employee schedules for department monitoring time keeping aspects for department
